I always thought governments were there to stimulate industry and incentivise them to grow…thus generating revenue and profit…and receiving more in taxes…which are used to benefit the nation. Yes? Or am I a little naive? So when the ALP launched their utterly ridiculous Carbon Tax…which would not change one iota of what is being pumped into our atmosphere and waterways…but is instead a blatant socialistic re-distribution of wealth and a total disincentive to employers…they confirmed for all to see that they have NO IDEA how to run the country or grow our economy. We were lied to more than once – including being told it would have no negative affect on society.
So, today ASIC data has come out showing that company insolvencies are at a record high and one of the causes is…that insane Carbon Tax! From March 2012 to March 2013 a total of 10,632 companies “went under”. A very tragic statistic. And one that could have been prevented if we’d had a REAL government in power. That figure is 12% higher than during the GFC! Equally tragically, to someone like me who has specialised in industrial marketing-communication-PR over the past 20 years, 1/5 of those companies were engaged in manufacturing and construction. The report includes this statement – “For companies which have exposure to energy, and other factors which are affected by the carbon tax in a significant way, the carbon tax and the costs related to it are having a significant impact on the ability of these companies to continue.” You got that right!
