Social media is just that – social media. An extensive survey of Gen Y’s in Australia has found that most do not like companies advertising themselves/their products to them via Facebook, Twitter, etc. In fact, 8 out of 10. Almost as many said they don’t like being marketed to via SMS. To them, texting is part of how they connect with their “community” and advertisers are invasive. So, what would these young people prefer? 87% said send your advertising by mail. This confirms the upsurge in recent years in print advertising – and the return of fax.
