Samsung, the brand that appears to be giving Apple a “shake up”, has announced a 75% increase in net profit to $A6.3B for the fourth quarter of 2012. Samsung is now the world’s largest technology corporation based on revenue and Smartphone sales. While shares in Samsung have climbed 12 per cent over that 3 month period, Apple shares have slumped 20 per cent.
Apparently, Samsung doesn’t list how many Smartphones it has shipped but analysts have come out with an estimate of 63,000,000. When you consider global sales for all Smartphones ran at 110,500,000 it is obvious they are on a roll. Come to think of it, a lot of my clients have Samsung phones. Don’t see many of the other Androids these days.
Samsung says it has been helped along by massive sales of its Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Smartphones. Samsung is growing faster than Apple right now.
